Haircut!

So...... I decided to cut my own hair for the first time on a whim today. Don't ask me why. I suppose this was a long time coming, but yeah. Basically, I was trying to trim it and messed up, so I chopped off a couple inches...

Blogging? What???

So... I think I started this blog over a year ago to blog about the awkwardness that is my life... So I guess maybe I should consider doing that? Well, here goes nothing... :P

Citations!

I got an email from my phage lab professor on Friday. She sent out a mass email to our class to inform us that we could look at the posters we made for the Undergraduate Research Poster Symposium on our Blackboard site. They look awesome!

The sentence of that email that got me the most:

Make sure you put these as citations in your resumes.

What?! YES! I have job/lab experiences AND citations for my CV and I’m not even done with my FIRST YEAR of UNDERGRADUATE study! YES!

I can’t even put into words how blessed I feel right now. God is so good. I think about what would have happened if I had gone to a different school. And then I stop because I don’t even want to know. God has me here for a reason. He is so good.

Phage Phest 2011

Okay, so Phage Phest yesterday was absolutely incredible!
We did the whole carpool thing, because that makes sense. Some people don’t have cars, and the whole part where we’re pretend to save the earth was also a factor. Dr. J, two other students, and I drove. On the way there, Raiha rode with me, and that was pretty awesome! We listened to music really loud (and found out that my CD player goes to volume 63), and sang like idiots. And laughed at each other.
When we got there, we ate pizza. I think we were supposed to mingle with students from other schools, but we didn’t. We all sat off in a corner and talked about how awesome VCU is. Because it is.
Then we went to “the world’s biggest lab meeting.” It was awesome. William and Mary, Mary Washington, and JMU presented, and then it was our turn. We presented what we had found about Wally and everybody thought it was pretty cool. We all sat down but then everyone had questions! It was so crazy awesome!
Then we went to a seminar. Dr. William Jacobs (from Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York) spoke about XDR-TB (extensively drug resistant tuberculosis) and phage. It was great.
Then on the way back, I drove Ryan, Nikita, and Sarah. We listened to Taylor Swift and talked about movies and such. It was awesome.
Then I went to church and Women’s Fellowship was great, as always!

Yep, my Friday was pretty incredible.
If only VCU had won tonight… :/

What a great week!

So… This week is amazing!
Great things from this week:

1. Phage phest at William & Mary is tomorrow.
2. Journal Club in phage lab! The article was amazing! :)
3. Pretty easy physics quiz. I guess we’ll see how my grade looks when I get it back!
4. VCU IS IN THE FINAL FOUR!!!!! YAYYYY!!!!
5. Found some pretty amazing music! Not only is there another Scotty McCreery song on iTunes, my friend told me about Boyce Avenue, which is a band that does a lot of covers of popular songs! So great! :)
6. Did I mention that PHAGE PHEST IS TOMORROW!?!?!?!? :D

Okay, I think I’m done with my recap of this week. I’ve got to go get some homework done before going to bed and then PHAGE PHEST!!! :D
